What is the most sought after ball python morph? ›

Pastel Ball Python:

This morph is highly sought-after due to its striking visual appeal and the outcome when the pastel gene interacts with other morphs.

One of the most attractive types of ball pythons is the albino ball python. They are the first ever recessive morph produced in 1992. Albinos show amelanism, which means the absence of dark pigmentation and the presence of an attractive yellowish-orange body.

The genetic variations of morphs span a wide range and include a variety of colors and patterns. Ball Python morphs can be pure white and include colors like orange, pink, yellow and purple and colors and hues of nearly everything in between. The famed "Spider Ball" is one of the first morphs that put NERD on the map.

The Albino Burmese is rare because only a few hatchlings will actually hatch with the distinctive “albino” coloring. Albinism is a genetic mutation in the DNA where the body does not produce melanin (pigment) which results in white skin or scales. In the wild, Burmese pythons are usually dark brown in color.

The captive lifespan of the Ball Python is 20 to 30 years, the record is 48 years. The lifespan in the wild is expected to be much lower at around 10 years due to predation and living conditions.

The Mystic ball python is an incomplete dominant mutation discovered in 2005 by Anthony McCain. Mystic alters both colour and pattern.

The Black Pastel Ball Python is a colour and pattern altering mutation that is similar to the Cinnamon Ball Python. There is some debate whether or not these morphs are separate lineages, as they both produce extremely similar supers, even when paired to one another.

There are several other morphs that have the same wobble syndrome, but for the sake of this write up, I will only speak of the wobble in terms of the spider morph.
