are there only 2 pp max in emerald. i found one in the magma hideout and got 1 from the trick master... are there anymore???

Um...you can't get a PP Max with Pickup ability, the best you could get is a PP Up...

I only have one DS, and I don't know anyone else (IRL or otherwise) who has one. Is there any way to transfer a few Pokémon from Diamond over to Platinum, so I can let my little brother play Diamond without losing my Shaymin and my shinies?

There's only 2ways..
1. Get someone who can be trusted trade back with you using wifi..
2. If both version have the pokemon dex entry.. Bet your intelligent and luck.. Offer that Shaymin on the GTS, then ask for a pokemon that is rare on GTS, like lvl 11 Turtwig or lvl 51 Abra.. Open the other version and trade using that Pokemon..

It's a brand-new Platinum game, so the GTS isn't an option (though I don't think I'd trust Shaymin or my shinies to the GTS even if it was) and I have no Pokémon-playing friends...

I can - it's the "someone who can be trusted" bit that's a problem. I get ridiculously attached to my Pokémon. =P Though, since the alternative is losing the Pokémon entirely...

Ohh go find a Lighthouse. Go inside to then to the top floor, talk to the Gym leader(he has yellow hair) then walk outside back to the gym, talk to Flint and you can go inside.
You have to get to the white building(lighthouse) in the lower right hand corner to talk to the gym leader.

you get the seal case in solaceon town. Talk to the kid in the ruins, he'll go to his home nearby. Talk to him. He'll direct you to his mom. Talk to her. Get seal case.
